15 Dec Foreign Affairs Defence and Trade Committee (FADTC) Members Visit MORDI Tonga HQs
2023/05/11 – MORDI Tonga warmly welcomed a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Defence and Trade Committee (FADTC) on Wednesday, May 10th. Led by New Zealand MP Hon Jenny Salesa (Panmure-Ōtāhuhu), the committee members included MP Todd Muller (Bay of Plenty), MP Golriz Ghahraman (Green Party), and committee support staff.

During their visit, the group had the opportunity to tour the headquarters of MORDI Tonga and discuss important regional issues with Leituala Kuiniselani Tago-Elisara, SPC Regional Director for Polynesia, and SPC Fisheries Development Officer William Sokimi Snr. The discussions were informative and constructive, and the FADTC members expressed their appreciation for the hospitality and warm reception they received from the MORDI Tonga team.

The group also had the chance to visit MORDI Tonga’s nursery and seed processing facilities, where they were impressed by the organization’s commitment to sustainable farming practices and the production of high-quality crops.

The visit by the FADTC delegation marks an important milestone in the ongoing partnership between New Zealand and Tonga, and highlights the important role that organizations like MORDI Tonga play in promoting economic growth and development in the Pacific region.
