18 Dec Rotary NZ Executive Director visits Tonga to monitor Manaaki Fund community project
July 25th, 2025 – Stuart Batty, Executive Director of Rotary New Zealand World Community Service Ltd (RNZWCS), recently visited MORDI Tonga Trust as part of an ongoing partnership supporting climate resilience in Tonga’s rural communities. RNZWCS, a charitable organization that takes a nationwide approach to community service abroad, has played a key role in facilitating the collaboration between MORDI Tonga and the NZ Manaaki Fund.

The Manaaki Fund is a fund dedicated to supporting registered New Zealand NGOs in delivering smaller-scale, targeted development activities through strong partnerships with local organizations. Its core mission is to reach vulnerable, marginalized, and hard-to-reach communities—ensuring that no one is left behind.

Stuart’s visit signified a strengthening of the partnership and provided an opportunity to witness firsthand the progress of the project being implemented by MORDI Tonga. The initiative focuses on the climate-resilient collection, processing, propagation, and distribution of fruit trees and seeds. These efforts aim to bolster food security and enhance climate adaptation in the rural communities MORDI serves.
His presence reaffirmed the shared commitment to sustainable development, climate resilience, and empowering local communities through strategic, community-driven action.
